My Journey to Joining the Home Rule Commission

I feel truly blessed to call Willow Park home. This community has been a wonderful place for my family, and over the years, I have developed a deep love and appreciation for our city and the people who live here. My decision to join the Home Rule Commission was never about criticism or pointing fingers. It came from a genuine desire to make a positive difference in a community that means so much to me.

Several years ago, I experienced a few situations near my home that I found concerning. As any resident would, I reached out to city leadership, hoping my concerns would be heard and addressed. The information was passed from the mayor to the city manager and then to the chief of police. When I saw no resolution, I spoke before the City Council. Unfortunately, I still felt that my concerns, and the concerns of a taxpaying resident, were not being heard.

That experience stayed with me. It made me realize how important it is for people to feel that their voices matter. No resident should ever feel ignored, dismissed, or forgotten. That is one of the main reasons I chose to become involved. I joined the Home Rule Commission because I want to help build a city where every citizen feels respected, valued, and listened to.

I believe public service is about more than attending meetings and making decisions. It is about caring for a community the same way you would care for your own home. The people elected to serve should be passionate about protecting public safety, preserving our quality of life, and ensuring that Willow Park remains a place we are proud to call home.

I also believe the little things matter. Clean streets, well-maintained public spaces, and pride in our appearance reflect the character of a community. When we take care of our city, we show respect for our neighbors and for future generations who will call Willow Park home.

I love Parker County, and I love the City of Willow Park. My hope is that we continue to elect leaders who share that same passion, who listen to their residents, and who work every day to make our community safer, stronger, and even better for the generations to come.
